
This page details the various standards that the TMO abides by.
The Commission for Racial Equality (CRE), the Equal Opportunities Commission, the Disability Rights Commission, the Employers Organisation for Local Government with the assistance of the Audit Commission have all collaborated to produce the “Equality Standard for Local Government” as a framework for addressing equality for race gender and disability. The standard provides a comprehensive and systematic approach to dealing with equalities and covers all aspects of policy making, service delivery and employment”.
The TMO Board has set the TMO a target of reaching level 3 of the Equality Standard for Local Government by March 2006 (This will ensure we are acting in accordance with good practice
Since 1996 the TMO has complied with the Code of Practice in Rented Housing produced by the CRE in 1991 (to be updated in late 2005).
The CRE has also issued a Code of Practice on Promoting Racial Equality which sets out the need for organisations such as the TMO to develop a Racial Equality Scheme to cover all its functions. The TMO’s Racial Equality Scheme was agreed by the TMO Board in July 2004.
