Actor and Comedian Robbie Gee joined more than 400 TMO residents in London's Holland Park on Saturday 22 July at the TMO's Annual Fun Day.
Robbie, who has appeared in Pirates of the Caribbean, Desmonds and Snatch, was impressed with the sense of community spirit he discovered at the event:
It's great to see so many of you here, and so many young people having such a great time. Keep working together, and encourage other people to get involved, too. You’ve got something great here!’
The exciting event combines the TMO’s annual conference with fun outdoor summer activities and gives residents a chance to come together in a relaxed environment where they can meet friends, family and neighbours as well as TMO Staff and Board Members.
The theme of this year’s event was ‘Celebrating Communities’, and his Worshipful the Mayor of Kensington and Chelsea Cllr Tim Ahern opened the event by encouraging the enthused crowd to make the most of their wonderfully diverse community:
“I encourage you all to get involved in the TMO and celebrate the success of your community. It is great to see the Council, residents and the TMO working together. We have created an organisation that really does work, and is producing the results we want. It’s great to see such community spirit - let’s enjoy it!”
Robbie Gee launched the TMO’s loyalty scheme, TMO Advantage. The discount card entitles TMO members to discounts in retail outlets and leisure attractions in the local area and throughout the UK. Robbie soon had residents rolling in the aisles with his jokes. The Football in the Community Team from Chelsea Football Club was on hand to put energetic youngsters through their paces in a coaching session that was immense fun.
Refreshments were available throughout the day, and there was a summer barbeque and Caribbean spread. To add to the festival atmosphere, there was face painting, and children had hours of fun on the bouncy castles.
For young ones who had ever wondered what it would be like to join the circus, there was a fun circus workshop and by the end of the session, youngsters were able to impress their friends and family with the skills they learned, such plate spinning and juggling.
Juliet Rawlings, chair of the TMO said:“It was great to see so many people having Fun! We have such a diverse range of residents, and its great when we can all get together to celebrate our community in this way.”
